A Mind Map on the Foundation of Strategic Communication

“The greater the area of common understanding, the more effective the communication is”

The above photo wraps up what I have learned in our Communication Planning Unit 01: Essentials of Communication Planning. This is the foundational unit of our course and I am so glad because it reminded me as a communicator that communication is not only a throw of spontaneous talks and dialogues but an art of letting understanding be the heart of why we are communicating. This is very true especially for those who consider communication not only as something that tightens social relationships but also an effective instrument to boost company sales through commendable customer relations.

With this Unit, I realized that in order for communication to foster, one should know how to deliver the right message through the right media, to the right audience at the right time and with the right effect. And the greatest measure of how effective we carried out the communication process is the degree of understanding we share with the person/people involved in the process.

After all, the very goal of communication is for people to understand and be understood. And as a communicator, my role is to make this vision a reality for all — a step which I believe would unveil us multitudes of social, economic and moral changes.
